What is iDEAL
iDEAL is an online payment method that allows consumers to pay via their own bank. You pay via your own bank's app or online banking environment, as iDEAL is a direct online transfer from your bank account to a merchant's bank account.

What is iDEAL and how does it work?
iDEAL is the most used payment method for Dutch consumers! It is a guaranteed online payment transfer from the IBAN of a consumer (payer) to the IBAN of the beneficiary payee (acceptor). Please watch our animated video for more in-depth detail.
What are the characteristics of iDEAL?
- The customer pays easily using the mobile banking app or website of his own bank,
- Receiving a realtime payment confirmation,
- Irrevocable transfer of the money to the IBAN of the beneficiary,
- Suitable for direct online payments and for post payments using a link in: an email, WhatsApp, text message or by using an iDEAL QR code.
What is iDEAL QR?
It is a functionality of iDEAL that makes it possible to initiate a mobile iDEAL payment from a screen, printed matter or wherever else you can find an iDEAL QR code. iDEAL QR can be used as a payment method in physical situations, including making doorstep donations, paying invoices, paying for films on TV (video on demand), paying bills at restaurants or cafés or transferring iDEAL transactions from a PC or laptop to a mobile phone.
Can I pay with iDEAL directly?
As long as you have access to internet- or mobile banking of one of the participating Issuers, you can instantly pay with iDEAL. You do not need to register separately.
Is it safe to pay with iDEAL?
iDEAL is based on internet- and mobile banking and uses the same security techniques and standards. This means that iDEAL is just as safe as internet and mobile banking.
Can I pay with iDEAL at every bank?
iDEAL is supported by several consumerbanks (Issuers). Consumers that have access to internet or mobile banking of one of these issuers are able to pay with iDEAL.
Can I revoke or undo an iDEAL payment?
You can not revoke or undo an iDEAL payment. As soon as you have approved an iDEAL payment in your internet- or mobile banking environment you can not undo this approval. Recovery is not possible. The amount is directly deducted from your bank account. The payment is completely processed within a couple of seconds after your approval, just like a debit card payment in a physical shop.
In case you want to cancel your order, you can contact the company/webshop. As a customer you have certain rights that need to be taken into account by the company/webshop.
