iDEAL should always be available, 24 hours per day. However, all IT systems need to be maintained, including systems for online and mobile banking.
These systems are subject to scheduled periodical maintenance to make sure they are up-to-date and to prevent malfunctions. This maintenance is conducted at night, outside of peak periods (non-primetime), to inconvenience as few people as possible. However, unexpected faults can also occur during primetime, when the system is being used by a lot of people. For this reason, Currence, the trademark and product owner of iDEAL, has set standards for the monthly availability of iDEAL that Partners must abide by:
- Standard for primetime from 06.00 to 00.30: 99.76%
- Standard for non-primetime from 00.30 to 06.00: 98.50%
