FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
| What is a Payment Service Provider (PSP)? We distinguish two types of PSPs: 1. A Collecting PSP (CPSP). This is a service provider managing the checkout system for your online store. Furthermore a CPSP is an Institution whose business is to provide professional services connected with the settlement of iDEAL payments made to a merchant, on its own account and at its own risk, thereby performing the role of intermediary between a merchant and the CPSPs’ bank (when in possession of the appropriate certificate). A CPSP is only permitted to offer iDEAL payment transaction services to merchants if it is certified by Currence and has concluded an ‘iDEAL Product Usage Contract’ with an Acquiring Bank licensed by Currence. You will find a list of certified Acquiring Banks and CPSPs on the Currence website. 2. A Distributing PSP (DPSP; also called a technical PSP). This is a service provider managing the checkout system for your online store, but a DPSP does not provide professional services connected with the settlement of iDEAL payments made to a merchant. The merchant would in this case enter into an iDEAL agreement with an Acquiring Bank. | ![]() |
